This is an independent site about the EuroGames and about LGBTQ+ multi-sport in Stockholm and Europe. It is not run by the organisers of any edition of the EuroGames, it is not the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation, and it is not an official channel of either. We do not organise anything, we are not connected to anyone who does, and we use no one else's branding.
For anything official — including anything at all about future editions — go to the EGLSF directly. The federation is the authority on its own event. Where this site and the federation disagree about a fact, the federation is right and we would like to know about it.
What we publish
Explanatory writing about a subject that is covered thinly and badly: what an LGBTQ+ multi-sport festival is, why one exists, how amateur competition is structured so that ordinary people get a real contest, what taking part is actually like, and the Stockholm context this domain carries.
We write for two kinds of reader. Someone who has encountered the idea of inclusive sport and wants to understand it properly; and someone who plays a sport, has wondered whether an event like this is for people at their level, and has assumed wrongly that it is not.
What we deliberately do not publish
This is the important half, and we would rather be explicit about it than have you work it out.
- No announcements. We do not announce, schedule, preview, tease or imply any forthcoming event. If you read something here as an announcement, we have written it badly — tell us and we will fix it.
- No registration, ticketing or entry information, and no call to sign up for anything. We are not in a position to take your entry, and we are not going to point you at a sign-up as though we were.
- No invented specifics. No dates, venues, participant numbers, sports programmes, results or records. Where we describe how these events are typically structured, we are describing a general format rather than any particular edition.
- No prices, timetables, opening hours or addresses. These decay, often within months, and a guide that confidently states a stale fare produces a traveller who is wrong and certain. Where a specific number would normally sit, you will find the reason it changes and the authoritative place to check it.
The daylight calculator and the pace calculator follow the same principle. They compute from astronomy and from numbers you supply, rather than from figures we have baked in and will forget to update.
Sources and accuracy
Nothing here substitutes for a primary source. For the event and the federation, that is the EGLSF. For LGBTQ+ rights and support in Sweden, RFSL. For the comparative European legal picture, ILGA-Europe's annual Rainbow Map. For transport, SL. For access rights and protected areas, the relevant environmental authority and the individual reserve. For bathing water, the national register and the city. We say so on the pages themselves rather than burying it here.
We do not use fabricated statistics, invented quotations, or numbers we cannot stand behind. Where a fact is contested, imprecise, or moves between seasons and editions, we write around it rather than inventing precision. Historical claims about the EuroGames and the wider movement are kept general for exactly that reason.
Nothing on this site is medical, legal or travel-safety advice. The training material is general and is not a substitute for a clinician if you have a condition, an injury, or a long gap behind you.
Corrections
We would rather be corrected than confidently wrong. If something here is inaccurate or has gone out of date, tell us. We fix errors on the page and note a correction where it materially changes what the page said.
